31st Annual Flying Scot Fleet 161 Invitational & New York Lakes Districts

 1.      Rules

1.1  Racing will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2  The prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association (US Sailing) will apply.

1.3  The rules of the Flying Scot Sailing Association (FSSA) will apply.

1.4  The above rules may be altered by this notice of race and/or by the sailing instructions.

1.5  The regatta is designated Category A, in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.  

2.      Eligibility & Entry

2.1  Competitors must register with, and have all fees paid to, the organizing authority before racing.

2.2  Competitors shall elect to sail in either the Championship division or the Challenger division, the regatta chairmen/committee may reassign competitors.

2.3  Minimum Participation

2.3.1 In the case that fewer than 7 boats register for the Challenger division all competitors will race in the Championship division, no scoring for a Challenger division will be made.

2.3.2 In the case that fewer than 12 boats register for the Championship division all competitors will race in the Championship division, no scoring for a challenger division will be made.

2.3.3 In the case that fewer than 12 boats register on or before Saturday August 6 for the Championship and Challenger divisions combined, the regatta will be cancelled.  Registered participants will be notified no later than Sunday August 7 and their registrations fees will be refunded in full.

3.      Schedule

3.1  Races will be held back to back, lunch will be taken on the water (no return to shore).

3.2  Five or more (5+) races will be run (weather permitting).

4.      Courses

              The course may be any of the following:  








 5.      Scoring

5.1  The low point scoring system will be used according to Appendix A of the RRS.

5.2  Each division shall be scored separately.

5.3  Five races are scheduled, of which one shall be completed to constitute a series.

5.4  Each yacht's total score will be the sum of her score for all races, no races will be thrown out.

5.5  Ties in total points will be resolved in favor of the yacht with the most number of firsts, and when the tie remains, the most second places, and so on.  When the tie still remains, it shall be resolved in favor of the yacht with the better finish in the last race.

6.      Sailing Instructions

Sailing instructions will be provided at time of registration and will be reviewed at the skipper’s meeting on Saturday Aug. 13.

7.      Safety

7.1  Each yacht must carry the safety equipment prescribed in the FSSA rules.   

7.2  Race officials may ask to inspect safety gear on the water.

7.3  Failure to carry the required gear may result in disqualification.
